Aliona and Diana from Cahul are two sisters in great need of wood to heat their home as well as blankets and food items. They live in poverty with their mother who is an alcoholic and rarely provides anything for the girls to eat.
Especially during the winter, the girls go to sleep hungry and cold. The girls would gather twigs and small branches from the nearby forest to provide some heat, however, it was never enough to provide sufficient warmth.
We entered their home and were stunned at the conditions these girls lived in everyday. We asked Diana if they had anything to eat. She started crying and told us they had nothing left as they used the last of the flour they had a few days ago.
They were overjoyed as they held their new blankets and the bags of food. For days they had prayed asking God to hear their cry for help. Through the Winter Wood and Coal Project, their prayer was answered.
